Moët Hennessy is the wine and spirits division of LVMH, formed in 1987. It brings together some of the world’s most celebrated houses, known as “Maisons”, in Champagne, Scotch whisky and fine wine. Ghalanos has represented Moët Hennessy in Cyprus for many years.
Maison Glenmorangie
Founded in 1843 in Tain, in the Scottish Highlands, Glenmorangie has the tallest stills in Scotland, at over five metres. Their height allows only the lightest, purest vapours to rise, giving the whisky its delicate, fruity character.
Glenmorangie is a pioneer of “extra maturation”, finishing whisky in casks that once held port, sherry or Sauternes, and it is one of the best-selling single malts in Scotland.
Maison Ardbeg
Founded in 1815 on the south coast of Islay, Ardbeg makes some of the smokiest, most complex single malts in the world. Saved from closure in 1997, it has since won a devoted global following.
Ardbeg has been named World Whisky of the Year several times, and its cask-strength Uigeadail and Corryvreckan are counted among the great peated whiskies.
Maison Krug
Founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, Krug makes only prestige champagnes. Every wine is fermented in small oak casks, and the Grande Cuvée is blended each year from well over 100 wines of more than ten different years.
Krug’s Clos du Mesnil, from a single walled vineyard enclosed since 1698, is one of the rarest champagnes in the world.
Maison Veuve Clicquot
Founded in Reims in 1772, Veuve Clicquot was transformed by Madame Barbe-Nicole Clicquot, who took over the house in 1805 at 27. She invented the riddling table for clearer champagne, created the first known vintage champagne in 1810 and the first blended rosé in 1818.
Its Yellow Label Brut is one of the most recognised champagnes in the world, and La Grande Dame, named in her honour, is the prestige cuvée.
Maison Estates & Wines
Estates & Wines brings together Moët Hennessy’s still wine estates around the world. Among them are Cloudy Bay in Marlborough, New Zealand, whose Sauvignon Blanc helped put the region on the map in 1985; Terrazas de los Andes in Mendoza, Argentina, which plants each variety at its ideal altitude; and Château Galoupet, an organic Cru Classé estate in Provence.
