CVH Spirits, formerly Distell International, is a Scotch whisky company that owns three distilleries: Bunnahabhain on Islay, Deanston in the Highlands and Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Its brands include the single malts Bunnahabhain, Deanston, Tobermory and Ledaig, and the Black Bottle and Scottish Leader blends. The Scotch business traces its roots to Burn Stewart Distillers, founded in 1948.
Bunnahabhain
Founded in 1881 on the north-east coast of Islay, Bunnahabhain (pronounced “bu-na-ha-venn”) is best known for unpeated Islay single malts, unusual on an island famous for smoky whisky. Its whiskies are rich and fruity, with a gentle sea-salt character, and are bottled at 46.3% without chill filtration or added colour.
Deanston
Deanston distillery, near Doune in Perthshire, is housed in a cotton mill built in 1785 on the banks of the River Teith. It was converted into a distillery in 1966 and is powered by its own hydro-electric plant. Its Highland single malts are honeyed and fruity and non chill-filtered, and it was one of the first Scottish distilleries to make organic whisky.
Tobermory & Ledaig
Founded in 1798, Tobermory is the only distillery on the Isle of Mull. It makes two single malts, unpeated Tobermory and heavily peated Ledaig, both bottled at 46.3% without chill filtration. The distillery also makes Tobermory Hebridean Gin, flavoured with local heather and tea.
